Cultural Heritage

Apart from being merely a manufacturer, we believe it is also our responsibility to continue the legacy of tailoring techniques. Every suit is a unique art piece, for no tailor can make exactly the same outfit as another. Tailoring is such an extraordinary cultural heritage that should be passed on to future generations.

We have initiated a collaboration project entitled “LOTO LAB” with our tailor artisan Mr Yau Fook-hing. The project aims to document the craftsmanship of Hong Bang Tailors for inheritance, in the hope of contributing to the industry. Hong Bang was a school of tailoring emerging around the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China era in Shanghai. All Hong Bang tailors were experienced and highly skilled in cutting, craftsmanship, sew work and iron work.

We are making a documentary about the entire making process of a Hong Bang suit, and also compiling a record of Mr Yau’s manuscripts. We look forward to sharing this valuable information with young people or anyone who are interested, in order to attract more people to the industry.
